WHY WE BREED
Before I became a rat breeder I would have rats here and there. Some were adopted from rescues, some were bought from petstores and some were purchased from backyard breeders. I was a teen and I wasn't smart enough to get my rats from a reputable breeder. Some rats were lovely but the majority of them had some sort of issue. hormonal aggression, high stress hormones, skittishness, horrible respiratory issues, poor immune system, tons of tumors and extreme genetic obesity were among some of the issues I'd experience with these rats. I didn't believe it was right to be producing such poor quality animals, I witnessed first hand how devastating and miserable these animals could be with their health issues and temperament issues. They were suffering due to the poor decisions of their breeder and of course this affects the family that purchases them as well. It affected me. Because of these bad experiences I became passionate about becoming a good breeder, I want to create rats that are happy and healthy and bring joy to the families that will adopt them. I am still constantly learning and improving but I'm dedicated and I've come a long way since I started.
OUR HISTORY
Before I paired any rats I did extensive research on everything rat breeding, I did research and planning for over a year before I decided to start breeding my rats. My first babies were born on May 25, 2018. I consider this the birthdate of my Rattery. The picture shown here is my first litter.
